Tommy's 1929 Ford Shop Truck

Rumour has it that in a previous incarnation, Tommy was a "tread head" military modeler. Looks like he learned lots of good techniques while he was at it. Most noticeable is the result of Tommy's weathering skills. He started with a layer of red-oxide primer topped by a layer of black primer. Over this he sprayed Polly-S Penn Central Railroad green. To acheive the worn paint effect, he simply sanded to different depths through the layers. Tommy used a neat trick for making convincing paint chips: he sprinkled salt in the wet primer, painted over it, then knocked it off, exposing the primer below the paint. The rest of the weathering is a combination of washes, dry brushing, Rust-All, and pastel chalks.
